It's not our job to worry; Allah did not create us for that purpose.
"And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." (Qur'an 51:56)
I wrote this piece a few months ago on my Bosnian language blog during a time when I was facing a personal challenge and feeling quite anxious. Over several days of reflection, I realized that placing my trust in Allah and letting go of my worries brought me immense peace, and ultimately, a resolution to my concerns. I decided to translate these thoughts into English in the hope that someone else might find them helpful. These are deeply personal reflections, and I welcome any comments or feedback. Thank you for reading, and I hope that, in some way, my journey resonates with you.
Worries are not our burden. Allah is the One who controls everything, from a drop of rain to the entire universe, and His care for His servants is perfect. Our task is not to carry the weight of this world, but rather to rely on Him, trust His will, surrender to Him, and grow closer to Him every day. Our responsibility is simply to discover the beauty of His perfect reliance, His greatness, and the strength of His support. We have the Lord of all worlds watching over us and caring for us.

The problem isn't just the trial itself, but the emotions that arise from it. Fear, uncertainty, sadness, or despair are what truly burden us and make us feel the heaviness of this worldly life. We see trials as problems because we focus on how they make us feel, rather than their true purpose, to draw us closer to Allah and purify our hearts.
Isn't it liberating to realize that these emotions aren't our responsibility? Allah Almighty carries this burden for us, while our only responsibility is to acknowledge His greatness, worship Him, and rely on His infinite mercy.
What is within our power?
When we look realistically at our existence, we realize almost nothing is within our power. We have no control over our lives, our destinies, or the circumstances around us. Even our own hearts are beyond our full control, they change and turn by Allah’s will. Everything we have is only by Allah's permission, and the most important gift He has given us is the free will to submit to Him.
The only thing we truly control is the decision to trust Allah, to surrender to Him, and acknowledge His absolute authority over everything. Once we make that decision, in this surrender lies all the strength we need. This isn't our strength, but Allah’s mercy, which comes when we submit to Him.
Submission to Allah doesn't mean passivity, but rather recognizing that we don't have control and that Allah is the One who manages everything. He knows what's best for us, and when we rely on Him, we open the door to His help and relief.
What happens without reliance on Allah?
Those who do not rely on Allah carry burdens they were not created to bear. Without connection to their Lord, life becomes an endless struggle for control over things beyond their capability. Such people often experience fear, anxiety, and uncertainty because they attempt to manage their destinies with their own strength, which is impossible.
Wealthy people who do not trust in Allah live in constant fear of losing what they have. Their wealth, instead of being a source of peace, becomes a source of worry and insecurity. Poor people, on the other hand, without a connection to Allah, carry their burdens without hope and support. Their trials feel hopeless because they see no escape from their problems.
When someone tries to control what they weren't designed to control, frustration, fear, and anger naturally arise. Some people even begin to project these emotions onto others, they become unjust, cruel, or angry at the world. Without Allah's guidance, trials not only distance us from Him but also damage our relationships with others and with ourselves.
Two worlds: reliance on Allah and life without Him
On one side are those who do not rely on Allah, rich and poor, sick and healthy, successful and unsuccessful. Their circumstances may be entirely different, yet they're united by worry, fear, and emptiness. Without Allah's protection and help, the rich live in fear of loss, and the poor live in despair. The sick wonder if they'll ever recover, and the healthy fear losing their health.
On the other side are those who rely on Allah. For them, worldly circumstances lose their heaviness, it doesn't matter whether they're wealthy or poor, healthy or ill, because Allah eases their burdens. The greater the trials, the more patience and tranquility Allah grants them. They rely on Him with certainty that everything that happens is for their benefit, viewing even the most severe trials as opportunities for Allah to show His mercy.
Therefore, a person who relies on Allah can be happier and calmer than a billionaire who never smiles. Tranquility doesn't come from worldly circumstances but from the connection with the Creator.
"Allah is the Protector of those who believe; He brings them out from darkness into light." (Qur'an 2:257)
Allah's power to untangle the impossible
For those who rely on Allah, no obstacle is beyond His power to remove. His power surpasses all limits and comprehension. When a person submits to Allah and believes in His plan, Allah untangles even the most complicated situations.
Recall the story of Musa (peace be upon him), when he and his people stood before the Red Sea, pursued by Pharaoh’s army. To human eyes, the situation seemed hopeless, an army behind them and a vast sea ahead. But Musa had unwavering faith in Allah’s power. Allah commanded him to strike the sea with his staff, and the sea parted, opening a path to safety.
"Then We inspired Musa, 'Strike the sea with your staff,' and it parted, each portion like a great towering mountain." (Qur'an 26:63)
Similarly today, when problems seem insurmountable, Allah can do what is unimaginable to the human mind. He can remove enemies, change hearts, and reverse circumstances, all for those who sincerely submit to Him.
"And they planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners." (Qur'an 3:54)
His justice and protection reach further than we can imagine. When a servant relies on Allah, He opens doors that no one can close. Even thousands of enemies surrounding him have no power against Allah’s will. His protection becomes an impenetrable shield, and His help arrives when it is most needed.
Conclusion: Submission to Allah brings tranquility
Therefore, dear brother, dear sister, do not worry, that is not your job. Your task is not to carry the weight of this world because that isn't what you were created for. Your job is only to submit to Allah, trust Him, and rely on His perfect will.
When you submit to Him, His care becomes your shield. Trials will not break you, because Allah will lighten your burden. A heart close to Allah does not know anxiety or fear, because it understands everything comes from Him, the Lord who never abandons His servants.
"And whoever relies upon Allah, then He is sufficient for him." (Qur'an 65:3)
Well said. So true! Not only Quran has so many stories to prove Allah’s power but we have seen both in the past and recent history the truth of Allah’s power.
